Oreamnos americanus 

     In Canada, the mountain goat is found chiefly in British Columbia where it inhabits rugged mountainous terrain from the American border to the Yukon. The social order is matriarchal with the smaller nannies dominating the more placid billies except during the mating season.  
     These animals are very adept at moving about on high rocky cliffs and ledges which is where they spend much of their time. Their main predator is the cougar, but the kids sometimes fall victim to the golden eagle. They are hunted by humans only as trophies.
